I know a lot of us, including myself aren’t completely politically illiterate. And with the presidential election coming next month, I think it’s about time to shed some light on this subject. Who should we vote for? And if we already know, do we even know why we are voting for that particular candidate? Well, seeing that whoever wins the election, will change our country drastically, I think we should be fully aware of each candidates views and positions.
Barack Obama: Democratic
Healthcare: Obamacare: Guarantees Health insurance to any legal U.S. resident who is unable to obtain healthcare through their employer. People who make under 250k save a lot of money.
Economy: Appeal Bush tax cuts, Raise taxes on people earning more than 250k to cut deficits
Immigration: Supports path to legalization for illegal immigrants, and children born of illegal immigrants receive citizenship
Global Warming: Supports Cap & Trade system, supports efforts to stop global warming
Gay Rights: For gay marriage
Abortion: Supports abortion rights
National Defense: Cut budget
Mitt Romney: Republican
Healthcare: Wants to repeal Obamacare, proposes individuals obtain health insurance individually instead of employers
Economy: Make Bush tax cuts permanent, lower taxes to encourage business
Immigration: Against legalization of illegal immigrants
Global Warning: Believes global warming is beyond human control. Wants to put 20 billion for energy research & new car technology
Gay Rights: Against gay marriage
Abortion: Against abortion, cut planned parenthood
National Defense: Increase budget
